Getting Support

The United MSD Foundation offers a number of Family Support Initiatives.
If you are interested in participating in any of the following, please reach out.

Family Support Meetings

United MSD Foundation hosts a virtual support meeting via Zoom. The topics vary between four broad categories: Social, Research Updates, Care Expertise, and Psychosocial Support. With the exception of social meetings, an outside expert attends to lead the group in discussion.

Family Outreach Committee

Once a month, select families in our community gather to discuss upcoming initiatives, family needs, and outside requests. These families have volunteered their time to help further the United MSD Foundation’s goal of supporting families.

Translation Services

For our non-English speaking families, translators are provided to ensure that everyone can participate in all meetings and gatherings. Additionally, we are constantly expanding the physical materials that we have available in additional languages.

Mentor Program

Newly diagnosed families who are interested in participating are assigned a mentor family. The pairs will be made on as many matching attributes as possible including the age of the child, form of MSD, location, etc. to ensure that the family gets the most relevant advice possible.

Family Facebook Group

This private Facebook group consists of MSD families from around the world. It is a safe space to ask questions, voice your concerns, and provide support to other families.

Access to Patient and Family Advocate

On our team, we have a staff member who is available to answer any and all questions that may arise. They will also assist in inquiries and resource creation specific to our families’ needs.
