Biennial International MSD Scientific and Family Conference
Getting the Latest on MSD
The Biennial International Multiple Sulfatase Deficiency Scientific and Family Conference allows for the presentation of research findings from the past two years, updates on the latest in care management, and the collaboration between all members of the MSD community. This event brings together an international gathering of MSD researchers, physicians, care providers, and families allowing for open dialogue and identification of needs in the community.
MSD Scientific Conference
In 2017, the very first MSD Scientific Conference was held in Dublin, Ireland, where basic scientists gathered to discuss their individual work on MSD and discuss potential treatment options. Following this conference, a number of grant proposals were drafted and then funded jointly by the United MSD Foundation and the MSD Action Foundation.
Then in April 2022, the second conference was held virtually due to COVID restrictions. This three-day virtual conference had 20 scientific talks, 9 family-focused sessions, and over 130 attendees. Many of the talks presented work that was funded as a result of the 2017 conference.
Our most recent conference was held at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia on August 1-3, 2024. Our community shared updates on research, including data from our ongoing Prospective Natural History study and plans for upcoming clinical trials, engaged in scientific brainstorming sessions, and participated in activities helpful for families navigating the day-to-day life of managing MSD.
2024 International MSD Scientific & Family Conference
The 2024 conference was co-hosted by Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and held August 1-3, 2024, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States.
