Zebra Run For
Rare Disease

Thank you for your generous support and your commitment to curing MSD. As you may know, zebras are the mascot of the rare disease community. Traditionally, medical students are taught to look for horses rather than zebras when diagnosing patients, meaning they should look for more common diseases first.

New for 2024 is the Zebra Run NOLA event! Click to jump down for more info and to link to the ZR NOLA event and registration page.

for Rare Disease

5K Race & 1-Mile Fun Run

Saturday, March 2, 2024

Zebra Run is a fundraising and community building event that raises critical funds to further MSD research and family support. Once again, Zebra Run will feature a local event at Fort Maurepas Park in Ocean Springs and virtual runs across the country, and worldwide! With your support, more than 500 runners from 47 states and two countries participated in last year’s Zebra Run. Our goal is to top that this year and have participants in all 50 states!

The event is typically on the first Saturday in March or the Saturday closest to Rare Disease Day. The main, in-person Zebra Run includes both a 1-mile, all-ages fun run and a chip-timed 5k run, and participants can choose to run or walk either distance. Our in-person event also includes music, family-friendly activities, and complimentary lunch provided by food sponsors.

Volunteers Needed for Zebra Run

This event is possible with YOUR help! Volunteers are needed for packet assembly and at Zebra Fest—all before event day—and, of course, on March 2nd for the Zebra Run event in Ocean Springs. Click LEARN MORE to see all volunteer shifts and to sign up for one or more shifts! Thank you for supporting the United MSD Foundation in this way!

Host Your Own Zebra Run

Hosting your own Zebra Run can be a fun way to gather your community, raise money for a great cause, and create awareness of MSD. Your Zebra Run can be fully your own, with your own race distance, format (ie. color run), and other details.

Want to Create or Join a Team?

Did you know that you can create a Zebra Run team or join an existing team? This is helpful for groups of friends, family members, co-workers or anyone else interested in tracking a team, including funds raised as a group. It’s an option when you CLICK TO REGISTER. But check out the flyer to see step-by-step instructions.
